About Me

Who is

Hope Wise?

Hello, my name is Hope Wise. I was born and raised in a town of about 30,000 people in Nebraska called Kearney. Growing up, art was a huge part of my life. At a very young age, I started doodling, coloring, painting, and filling up our driveway from top to bottom full of doodles with chalk.

My skills as an artist flourished when I was struggling with mental health, as sketching was a way for me to express my feelings and emotions. While attending Kearney High School, I was involved in sports, DECA, the National Honors Society, and art. I took an art class almost every semester in High School. In my junior year of High School, I got my artwork published in the Mediums for Change Youth Expression Project book for Domestic Violence.

In May of 2021, I graduated high school and moved to Lincoln, NE, to study psychology at the University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL). I was at UNL for a year and decided it wasn’t the right fit. I transferred to Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE, and studied graphic design. Making my love for art into a career has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. While at SCC, I realized I enjoyed college and learning again: I became very ambitious. In May 2024, I graduated with an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in the Graphic Design Media Arts Program.

While at Southeast, I interned with the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce as a Marketing/Graphic Design Intern for three weeks for 120 hours. This opportunity opened the door to networking with other businesses. I got my first official job as a Marketing Manager and Sponsorship Coordinator at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney, NE, starting in May of 2024.

“Design is one of the few disciplines that is a science and an art. Effective, meaningful design requires intellectual, rational rigor and the ability to elicit emotions and beliefs. Thus, designers must balance both the logic and lyricism of humanity every time they design something, a task that requires a singularly mysterious skill.”
 — Debbie Millman, How to Think Like a Great Graphic Designer

I love being creative

Art has been my escape from reality for a long time now. It is a way for me to express my emotions. As I grew into a career, I found that disconnect not to be so personally attached to my designs. I am a strong illustrator and web designer. I have experience in typography, packaging design, UI/UX, and a little video editing skills. I have experience with Adobe products (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Frisco, and Dimensions). I am also a Web Designer and have experience with Figma, Visual Design Studio, and WordPress.
